300 Series Buoyancy & Anti Swamp Seating

When Landamores the boat designer gave me the licence to build the Yeoman and Kinsman, I was aware they needed upgrading to modern keelboats, if they were ever to sell again.
The boat was originally designed for the Norfolk broads, some 30 years ago. Its now sailed in much more open waters.
The first job was to increase the size of the buoyancy chambers and to minimise the amount of water taken on board when broaching, the original design has 4 buoyancy chambers with a total capacity of 33 cu ft. The new 300's has 7 buoyancy chambers totalling 62 cu ft or 1700 lt. This is more than double required to prevent the boat sinking. The deck and seating area has been remodelled to minimise water flooding in to the boat in a broach. On testing the boat has taken on average 60-70 lt of water over the side, which is a big improvement on the original layout were it was quite common to take 1000 lt of water when the boat is broached hard.
